Barnard Place Park

Following a community process that revealed a clear preference for a permanent open space use, an RFP has been issued and proposals are due on Monday, September 30, 2019, at 4:00 PM. The RFP can be found here: https://www.boston.gov/departments/neighborhood-development/requests-proposals

One proposal was received in response to the RFP issued in August. It was submitted by the Barnard Place Park Corporation, Inc., whose design concept can be found on this page, and whose proposal preserves the space as public open space including seating areas, vegetable garden beds, and a bocce court. The Public Facilities Commission will consider a TD designation for Barnard Place Park Corporation at their December meeting.

In December 2019, the Public Facilities Commission voted to designate Barnard Place Park Corporation, Inc., as the tentative developer of this park. Their design concept can be found in the images section of this page.

~2,042 sq. ft. of vacant land permanently preserved for community use as a park including raised beds, trees, a bocce court, and gathering space. Currently in construction by Barnard Place Park Corporation with support from the Community Preservation Act.

Construction of Barnard Place Park is underway. Finishing touches expected in spring 2022.
