Project Goals
The Old Colony Phase 2C project is the third and final phase of the second redevelopment of the Old Colony public housing community in South Boston. Beacon completed the redevelopment of Old Colony Phase 1 in 2011. Phase Two, totaling 169 apartments, is being constructed in 3 subphases - Two A, Two B (slated for completion in Spring, 2014) and this project, Two C. In the fall of 2012, Beacon closed on Phases Two A and B and demolished the entire Phase Two site (223 units). Phase 2C is a HOPE VI project and is comprised of 40 units within four newly-constructed buildings. New roads and infrastructure within Phase 2 were constructed by the City of Boston. All existing residents were relocated off-site by the BHA and those in good standing will be offered new units within the completed development.
