NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The SOUTH END LANDMARK DISTRICT COMMISSION will hold a public hearing:

DATE:                               Tuesday, November 1, 2016

TIME:                                5:30 P.M.

PLACE:                             BOSTON CITY HALL, PIEMONTE ROOM, 5^TH FLOOR

Subject of the hearing will be applications for Certificates of Design Approval on the agenda below, reviews of architectural violations, and such businesses as may come before the commission, in accordance with Chapter 772 of the Acts of 1975, as amended.  Applications are available for public inspection during normal business hours at the office of the Environment Department.  Applicants or their representatives are advised to attend, unless indicated otherwise. Sign language interpreters are available upon request. 

Please ensure that all electronic devices are silenced prior to entering the hearing room.

After 5:30 p.m., enter and exit City Hall at the Dock Square entrance on Congress Street (across from Faneuil Hall).

ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW

In order to expedite the review process, the Commission has delegated the approval of certain work items, such as those involving ordinary maintenance and repair, restoration or replacement, or which otherwise have a minimal impact on a building’s appearance, to the staff pending ratification at its monthly public hearing.  Having been identified as meeting these eligibility criteria and all applicable guidelines, the following applications will be approved at this hearing:

17.480 SE: 40 Appleton Street: Replace existing front porch railing with taller but identical railing.

17.489 SE: 68 Appleton Street: Replace 3 1/1 wood windows with 2/2 wood windows.

17.483 SE: 16 Clarendon Street: Remove outer wythe of brick on section of parapet that is bulging. Rebuild in kind.

17.437 SE: 507 Columbus Avenue: Replace 4 2/2 wood windows in kind.

17.461 SE: 13 Concord Square: Rebuild front stoop in kind.

17.482 SE: 18 Concord Square: Repair mansard roof with in kind materials and reinstall existing fire escape. (emergency repair)

17.454 SE: 147 West Newton Street: Repair dentils, brick stops, and dormer with in kind materials. Paint lintels.

17.434 SE: 12 Worcester Square: Relay 4 courses of brick masonry above front entry using existing bricks.

17.484 SE: 25 Worcester Square: Replace 5 windows with 5 2/2 windows.

17.433 SE: 27 Worcester Street: Replace 5 2/2 windows on the front façade with 5 2/2 wood windows. (emergency repair)

17.435 SE: 75 Worcester Street: Relay 3 courses of brick under the roof gutter. In kind materials will be used.
