Help Boston Common glow for the holidays

With your support, more than 60,000 lights will illuminate Boston Common with another 25,000 in the Public Garden.

Ninety-five percent of the funding for this initiative is from corporate and private donors. Many long-standing Boston events have been canceled or postponed this year due to COVID-19. We need your help to ensure that this beloved tradition continues.

The number of trees to be lit is dependent upon the funds raised by November 23. But, we will welcome donations after this date.

About the program

Our target goal of $225,000 will enable us to light trees and the buildings in the park. Our goal is to deliver holiday cheer to Boston’s residents and visitors. We want to continue this beloved custom to reassure and comfort residents and visitors alike.

We hope to illuminate the canopy of 60 trees and Boston Common buildings with LED string lights. We will also mount large-scale LED snowflakes on poles along the Mayor's Walk and at the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument.

The Fund for Parks and Recreation in Boston is an IRS-recognized charitable organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  Sponsorship opportunities are available. Please consider donating. You will help ensure that we continue to light America’s oldest public park, Boston Common, and celebrate the holidays in our great city!
