Sally Degan Glora
As the City Auditor, Ms. Glora serves as the Department Head of the Auditing Department and administers controllership and audit functions for the City. The Auditing Department is responsible for implementing fiscal controls, managing the budget in conformity with appropriate funding regulations and issuing the City’s financial statements. Serving as an advisor and resource to the Chief Financial Officer, the Auditor works to ensure effective and efficient management of the City’s operations;compliance with all relevant laws and regulations; and responsible and transparent financial practices.
Ms. Glora serves as Ex-Officio Member of the Boston Retirement Board and holds fiduciary responsibility for the over $5 billion pension trust, serving 34,000 members and beneficiaries. She also serves as a member of the George Robert White Fund and the Brown Fund Trusts.
The Auditor also serves as the primary liaison between the City and the Boston Audit Committee.
Prior to her appointment as City Auditor in 1990, she served as the Deputy and Assistant City Auditor. Ms. Glora also served for many years with the Department of Health and Hospitals. She received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Suffolk University.
Ms. Glora is the recipient of the Municipal Research Bureau’s Shattuck Chairman’s Award honoring the distinguished leadership of a Department Head or Cabinet Officer, and the Public Technology Inc.’s Technology Leadership Award honoring technology usage in local government.
Ms. Glora resides in South Boston.
