Mary Miller

AmeriCorps VISTA

Mary Miller is the Mayor's Office of Food Access’s AmeriCorps VISTA member for 2018-2019. During her year of service, Mary will work to expand the capacity of the Boston Summer Eats program, and to establish a SNAP clinic program where community members can access assistance and resources in the SNAP application process.

Mary was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest but is proud to also have strong family roots in Boston. As the descendant of Irish immigrants who made their home in the City of Boston, Mary was raised with an understanding of barriers to food access and a belief in the empowerment of the individual in the alleviation of poverty.

Mary has previously worked as the Public Outreach Coordinator for the Oregon Historical Society, and as the Farmers’ Market Manager and Events Coordinator for the City of Lake Oswego, Oregon. Most recently, Mary worked in Community Operations for Uber New England, and also helped to launch the UberEATS app in cities around America. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation Administration from Western Washington University, with a degree emphasis in Community Administration and a minor in United States History.
