Lauren is an artist and educator from the Boston area who is happy to call The Mayor’s Mural Crew her home for the past two seasons. She has been making art as long as she can remember and finds her own strength in painting, illustration, and design. Lauren has brought her experience in working with children and families to the Crew where she has found a great mentor in Heidi Schork and a new focus on large scale art making with a community impact.
Lauren strongly believes in the power of art making. After graduating from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA she returned to Boston to work for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp’s Hospital Outreach Program where she practiced art daily with children and families in local hospitals, clinics and rehabilitation centers. In 2015 Lauren completed the Philadelphia Mural Arts Training Program where she continued to develop her community art making skills.
She sees muralism as a perfect avenue to make and digest art for ultimate visibility. She is grateful for the opportunity to share ideas and tell stories through her work with the Mayor’s Mural Crew and especially in the context of this project. As someone who recognizes how important immigration stories and cultural identities are and were to her family and the families of so many of her dear friends she sees this project as a powerful and timely way to connect people and find the common threads in our experiences.
