Susan F. Rice
This division is charged with, among other things, reviewing building permit applications and their accompanying plans for compliance with the Boston Zoning Code, the Massachusetts State Building Code, as well as all other local ordinances, rules and regulations. Susan also oversees the Document Room which is the Department’s record keeping division. Susan is considered an expert in zoning and development permitting and is frequently a contributing author and guest speaker on this topic.
Prior to her current role, Susan served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Boston Law Department. Susan holds a B.S. cum laude, from Northeastern University and a J.D., cum laude, from New England School of Law. She also served as a law clerk to the Justices of Superior Court from 1997 to 1999.
