Alexis Tkachuk is the Director of Labor Relations for the City of Boston. Accordingly, she oversees the daily operations of the City’s workforce and negotiates contracts affecting over 19,000 unionized employees of City and Quasi-City agencies to ensure that responsible fiscal parameters and management practices are implemented.
Alexis has 17 years of public service experience, the last four with the Walsh Administration. She previously worked as an attorney for the Massachusetts House of Representatives and was responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and managing negotiations for high profile proposals before the Judiciary Committee including the landmark passages of gay marriage, human trafficking, sex offender, drunk driving, judicial management, and CORI reform laws. In 2012, she was recognized as a “Human Rights Hero” by the Boston Institute to Advance Human Rights for her efforts and accomplishments in this role. Additionally, Ms. Tkachuk played a role in the development and passage of a full range of issues before the Legislature, including economic development, education and health care.
Prior to her appointment as the Director of Labor Relations, Alexis served as the Chief of Staff to the Law Department for the City of Boston where she oversaw day-to-day legal operations, analyzed the roles and responsibilities of various City departments and served as a senior advisor to the Mayor on a number of priority initiatives.
A lifelong resident of the City of Boston, Alexis was educated in the Boston Public School system, graduating from Boston Latin School. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Saint Anselm College and a law degree from Suffolk University Law School.
