Manar-ul Islam Swaby
Manar-ul Islam Swaby was born and raised in New York to a Muslim and Caribbean immigrant family. Manar graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Her direct experiences and academics frame the way that she approaches her work.
Manar holds a passion for education and research, which for her fuel a design practice. At the heart of Manar's work is a stride towards equity. She holds great value in information and knowledge systems. In particular, in exploring the ways that they are accessed, privileged, and constructed. Manar's personal mission is to enable accessibility, agency, and inclusion within complex structures.
Manar Swaby is the City's first Director of Language and Communications Access. She is excited to serve as a part of the Walsh administration, working to best serve the Boston community.
