Max is a program director in the Mayor’s Office of New Urban Mechanics. He is passionate about designing and building tools with public purpose and believes in the power of intentional design to empower communities to thrive on their own terms. He also enjoys designing and building furniture, but can only do that as his side hustle. Max is fascinated by the complexity of people, spaces, infrastructure, resources and the network of interactions created between them all. Max’s background is in community development, affordable home construction, and neighborhood support. He also has a history as a fencer and, at one point, was 8th in the world. This skill is only rarely applied as part of the Mechanics. Max holds a BA in Political Science from The Ohio State University.
