Kevin P. Coyne
Kevin Coyne is the Purchasing Agent for the City of Boston. Kevin was appointed in January 2016. Prior to that Kevin served as the Assistant Purchasing Agent and has been with the City since 2007.
Kevin has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Emmanuel College and a Masters Degree in Leadership from Northeastern University. Prior to joining the City of Boston Kevin worked in procurement and in non-profit healthcare administration. He is also a licensed nursing home administrator in Massachusetts.
In his capacity with the City, Kevin and his staff are entrusted to ensure that the City purchases the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices for all departments and agencies that we support. Purchasing plays a key role in ensuring that all city departments comply with legal requirements for the procurement of goods, as outlined by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and The City of Boston Charter. The Procurement office manages a Vendor/Bidder support desk which is responsible for functions related to the on-line supplier portal to assist vendors who wish to do business with the City. The Procurement Department is also responsible for disposing of surplus property, processing mail, providing copier services, custom printing and publishing the City Record. The Purchasing Department is committed to obtaining the best value possible for the taxpayers of The City of Boston.
Kevin is a proud lifelong Bostonian who resides in South Boston with his family.
