I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence.
I am originally from Dorchester and a graduate of Morehouse College (Atlanta, GA), where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. After undergraduate studies, I was trained as a social demographer at the CU Population Center on the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado. While there, I also taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Sociology.
My commitment to social justice and freedom for all is best captured by a quote from Frantz Fanon, "Today I believe in the possibility of love; that is why I endeavor to trace its imperfections, its perversions."
