Summer Eats

We're filling the summer food gap by providing free meals to Boston youth ages 18 and under.

We offer free and nutritious breakfast and lunch to youth 18 and under at more than 100 locations across the City.

The program is designed to make meals accessible to City kids and youth with no ID or registration required. We're delivering critical support to children that rely on school meals throughout the year. Through our Summer Meal site search, you can use your address to find a location near you, or view a map of the whole state:

About the program

History of the program

We launched our pilot program at City Hall Plaza and Mattapan Public Library in 2017. Thanks to our partners Project Bread, the Greater Boston YMCA, and Boston Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services, we expanded to other sites, including:

  • Boston Public Library branches
  • Boston Housing Authority properties
  • the Bolling Building, and
  • 10 farmers markets.
Current program

In 2019, we received funding from the Boston Children's Collaboration for Community Health. We are now supporting more than 30 open summer meal sites throughout Boston. Kids and youth ages 18 and under can get free meals and take part in engaging programs. There are a variety of activities taking place at each meal site.
