The Disability Community Forum is a hybrid event hosted by the City of Boston Disabilities Commission to offer an opportunity for the public to provide input on disability access and inclusion to City of Boston officials.

Boston residents and visitors from every corner of the disability community are encouraged to participate, either in person or on Zoom! We value your perspective, and hope to hear from many community members. Tell us what is working and where improvement is needed related to City of Boston programs, policies, services, communications, and the built environment. You'll have the chance to give us your input and express your priorities! You can also ask us questions about topics you want to learn more about. Watch this video from last year's hybrid Disability Community Forum to learn more about this event.

Please join us on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 2 - 3:30 p.m. at Suffolk University Law School (120 Tremont Street, Boston MA 02108) or virtually on Zoom for this year's Disability Community Forum. Please register whether you plan to attend online or in person. If you plan to attend online, we will use your registration to send the Zoom link. Please also use the form to submit a question or comment in advance.

We hope you can participate and learn about the City's disability accessibility initiatives, and provide your input about accessibility and inclusion priorities.

 register Now

This event is to raise awareness within the community of the signs and symptoms of PTSD and mental health issues that veterans may face. Connect veterans struggling with PTSD and mental health related symptoms to resources and programs that can assist them. Build a community of support for veterans and their families through the incorporation of the sport of golf.

PTSD can be caused by several factors. It is most notably caused by being thrust into a combat situation that adds an overwhelming amount of stress to an already stressful situation, which may include actions during war, politics around the world, location of combat, and the type of enemy faced. Moreover, in addition to being in a highly stressful environment, a large number of veterans have reportedly experienced sexual assault as well as sexual harassment when in active duty.

Historically, PTSD has been recorded from as far back as 50BC by a war soldier who was haunted by PTSD-like flashbacks and these symptoms have since been consistently mentioned with different labels because of its unfamiliarity.

In 1980, PTSD was officially acknowledged in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM). National PTSD Awareness Day was recognized on June 27th in 2010 in honor of a North Dakota National Guard member who had committed suicide after two tours of duty in Iraq, and in 2014, the month of June was recognized as PTSD Awareness Month.
