The largest neighborhood in Boston is also one of the most diverse. Long-time residents mingle together with new immigrants from Vietnam, Cape Verde, Ireland, and many other countries.
This wonderful mix of residents from all cultures and backgrounds makes it an incredibly vibrant place to live, work, and spend time. Former residents can often be seen and heard claiming to be “OFD” — Originally From Dorchester.

Deputy Director
Ciara D’Amico is a third-generation North End resident, born and raised in the neighborhood where she still resides today. She is a proud alumna of the Eliot School and Boston Latin Academy, and she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Social Work from Saint Anselm College.
D'Amico has a background working with the Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) and has long been involved as a volunteer, consistently dedicated to advocating for and serving her community. She currently serves on North End Cares, a local organization focused on supporting residents and strengthening neighborhood connections. D'Amico is a former North End, West End, and Wharf District neighborhood liaison.
Outside of work, Ciara enjoys spending time with her family and friends, exploring new restaurants, traveling, shopping, and staying active through exercise. She especially loves walking her family dogs, Tony and Carmela Soprano, around the neighborhood.
Ciara D'Amico is the Deputy Director for Neighborhoods: East Boston, Dorchester, Downtown, Chinatown, Leather District, North End, Waterfront, and West End Liaison.
About the neighborhood
Field’s Corner is the heart of the Vietnamese community in Boston. There you’ll find the first Vietnamese Community Center in the country and the best Vietnamese restaurants in the City. Dorchester Avenue is the center of the business district and features restaurants, local small businesses, pharmacies, ethnic stores, and more.
Dorchester is also home to Franklin Park, the “crown jewel” of the Emerald Necklace Park System. The park has more 527 acres of green space, a zoo, and public golf course. Among the dozens of other parks in the neighborhood, recently renovated Pope John Paul II Park offers numerous walking and bike paths, athletic fields, and picnic areas with beautiful views of Boston Harbor and the Neponset River.
