Alex Speir

Boston Cultural Council member

Alex Speir is an arts administrator and consultant and is the Director of Marketing and Audience Development for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In his previous roles with the Handel + Haydn Society, Lyric Stage Company of Boston, Greater Boston Choral Consortium, and Boston Choral Ensemble, Alex focused on engaging current and new audiences, using digital storytelling to create experiences that transcend the performance, and premiering new works in non-traditional venues and settings.

Alex grew up on a farm in rural Oklahoma and is a member of the Chickasaw Nation.  He studied history at Amherst College, is an amateur film photographer, and is an active member of the League of American Orchestras, Chorus America, ArtsBoston, and the Boston Arts Marketing Alliance.

As a Member of the Boston Cultural Council , Alex advocates for more equitable funding for arts organizations and to help organizations, artists, and Boston thrive.
