Alex Speir is an arts administrator and consultant and is currently the Associate Director of Audience Services for Handel + Haydn Society, the nation’s oldest continually performing orchestra and chorus. In his previous roles with the Lyric Stage Company of Boston, the Greater Boston Choral Consortium, and the Boston Choral Ensemble, Alex focused on growing and maintaining audiences, using digital storytelling to engage beyond the performance, and premiering new works in non-traditional venues and settings.
Alex grew up on a farm in rural Oklahoma and is a member of the Chickasaw Nation. He studied history at Amherst College, is an amateur film photographer, and is an active member of Chorus America, ArtsBoston, and the Boston Arts Marketing Alliance.
Alex’s work as a Member of the Boston Cultural Council is to advocate for more equitable funding for arts organizations and to help these organizations, artists, and Boston thrive.
