Elections Department raises awareness about City’s Annual Census

We mail the census form to every household. It’s your responsibility to respond.

The Boston Election Department conducts the Annual Resident Census, as mandated by state law. We use the census to record people 17 and older who live in the City of Boston. It also helps us maintain an accurate voter list, and keeps your voter status active.

Through the census, we’re able to give people access to a jury of their peers. We also use the information we collect to figure out how best to use the City’s resources.

You can respond to the annual census by mail, in person, over the phone, or online. For more information, or complete the census online, visit the Annual Census website.
