CIP 22-22 FREDERICK DOUGLASS PLAZA IMPROVEMENTS

The City of Boston, acting by the Public Works Department, Room 714, 1 City Hall Square, Boston, MA 02201, hereinafter referred to as the Awarding Authority, hereby invites sealed bids for the project listed above.

Bids will be solicited from interested vendors through the City of Boston’s Supplier Portal: boston.gov/departments/procurement

All bids for this project are subject to all applicable provisions of law and in accordance with the terms and provisions of the contract documents entitled: CIP 22-22 Frederick Douglass Plaza Improvements.

Bids must be submitted before 11:00 A.M., Boston time, Thursday, June 25, 2026 and opened  1:00 P.M., Boston time, Thursday, June 25, 2026.

The IFB documents will be available on or about Monday, June 8, 2026, after 9:00 A.M., Boston time

Reconstruction of the plaza to provide a space to install the art and an adjacent event space. Improvements to the existing sidewalks, ramps, and roadway are being proposed to bring PWD infrastructure to a state of good repair. Improvements include, but are not limited to sidewalk & roadway reconstruction, ramps, lighting, green infrastructure, and concrete pavers.

MassDOT prequalification of contractors with the classes of work as "Highway Construction" for a contract with an estimated value of $1,640,428.00  will be required. A contractor that is not prequalified for the value above but wants to bid a project must submit a waiver request to MassDOT at least 2 weeks prior to the project’s bid opening date
