Repair A Roof

If you are repairing a roof, you’ll need to apply for a Short-Form permit.

Who can repair a roof?

  • Homeowners and contractors can apply for the Short-form Permit.
  • Homeowners and contractors can repair a roof if the work is being done on a 1-2 unit owner-occupied home.
  • You must hire a contractor to perform the work if it’s being done on a three-family or bigger dwelling, such as:
    • an apartment building
    • a multi-unit condo, or
    • one floor of a triple-decker house.

What permits do I need?

Short-Form Permit
  • For repairing an existing roof when no other structural changes need to be made.
