Project Goals

The 1599 Columbus project will remove two existing distressed buildings and create 65 new construction apartments and will also create approximately 4,000 SF of commercial space along Columbus Avenue. 1599 Columbus will: provide transit-oriented development; enhance the Columbus Avenue and Amory corridors by developing underutilized and distressed parcels in a prominent location in Jackson Square; create 65 units of 100% income-restricted affordable rental apartments in a highly desirable location, providing affordable housing opportunities in close proximity to job centers, healthcare providers, and other valuable community amenities; and create a highly resilient and efficient building, with an ambitious sustainability program including a goal of Passive House certification in line with State and City climate goals.
