Better Business through Cooperation
Learn about the benefits of employee-owned and cooperatively-owned businesses.
The City of Boston has launched a Worker Cooperative Initiative in concert with Mayor Walsh’s efforts to expand support for small businesses and entrepreneurs. We want to create opportunities for economic mobility for every Bostonian.
As entrepreneurs, we know you are constantly:
- looking for ways to lower your costs
- get better prices for your product or service
- secure investment for growth, and
- retain great workers and encourage them to feel the sort of responsibility for your reputation that you do as a business owner.
This workshop will highlight ways that entrepreneurs like you have used the cooperative model to build better businesses. You will learn about the different types of cooperative businesses that exist in the US. You'll also learn about the process for converting your business into a co-op, from co-op members who have made that transition successfully. We'll offer information about the Local Enterprise Assistance Fund (LEAF) and the Boston Center for Community Ownership.
