Rose Garden Party

We regret to inform you that the 2020 Rose Garden Party originally scheduled for Thursday, June 18, is canceled.

Given the COVID-19 situation, we want to keep our guests, vendors, staff, and the greater community safe. For that reason, we made the decision to cancel what would have been our 24th annual Rose Garden Party.

If you have the means to support us in providing free, safe, and enriching, quality programs, any amount of support will help.  Donations may be made through the PayPal links below or by a check made payable to "The Fund for Parks and Recreation in Boston". If you donate by check, please mail it to:

About the event

The Rose Garden Party is the only fundraiser held each year to raise money for our year-round, free programming in Boston’s park system. Given the COVID-19 situation, our priority was to keep our guests, vendors, staff, and the greater community safe. For that reason, we decided to cancel what would have been our 24th annual event.

For the past 23 years all proceeds from this fundraiser have supported our year-round free programs in Boston’s parks. Through ParkARTS and our fitness series, the Parks and Recreation Department offers free programs in parks throughout the City, including:

  • performances and workshops
  • fitness activities, and
  • participatory arts programs.

Programming in Boston’s parks is funded exclusively by sponsorships, grants, and proceeds raised at the Rose Garden Party. Tens of thousands of children and families enjoy these events and activities each year. Many people living in the City do not have a yard, or the means to go on vacation. Our parks, playgrounds, fields, urban wilds, City squares, and street trees provide respite from the City hardscape. Our special events and programs bring free, fun, and safe activities to these spaces, and help build community.

Bostonians are being challenged, but we are strong and we will get through this together.  We are still planning for the future as we work to re-tool our free, year-round programming.  Event planning is underway, and we will be ready to welcome people back outside with celebrations and programs. More than ever, parks offer Boston residents an escape during uncertain times.

We wish you good health and look forward to welcoming you back to the 2021 Rose Garden Party. For those with the means to donate, thank you in advance for helping to make a difference in the lives of Boston youth.
