Boston 311’s Commitment to Getting City Hall Out of City Hall
Boston 311 gets City Hall out of City Hall through its free trainings and increased community outreach.
As Boston 311 serves as the nervous system to City services and resources, they have also been expanding their efforts in engaging with the community. Last year, Boston 311 attended over 65 community events and meetings to share important information with constituents. This included attending Office of Neighborhood Services (ONS) liaisons’ coffee hours which take place every Friday, neighborhood association meetings, community events and many more.
311's goal of being present in the community is to ensure that Boston residents are not only getting the services they are requesting but also learning more about how the City hotline runs.
Boston 311 staff is constantly looking for new ways to spread the word about their resources with constituents including:
- How to schedule mattress collection appointments
- How to request trash and recycling services
- Hosting trainings on how to use the BOS:311 app
- Learning how the department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week
So far this year, Boston 311 has attended events each month to share City resources with constituents. Check out some of the most recent community events Boston 311 has attended!
Boston 311 was invited to attend Excel High School to share resources with over 100 students. This opportunity allowed 311 to share how the department is a great entry point into learning more about our City. They were also able to share a table with the Department of Youth Engagement and Opportunity and connect students to resources in their office as well.
311 staff and our amazing Northeastern University co-ops were also able to attend the Boston Public Schools Resource fair located at the Bruce Bolling Building in Nubian Square last month to share information with City employees as well!
