Home Safety Services for Older Adults Grant
Through this program, Age Strong seeks to fund home clean out and clutter removal services for older adults 60+ to ensure home safety and housing permanency.

About the Grant:
Through this grant opportunity, the City of Boston's Age Strong Commission is making up to $220,000 available to support older adults in Boston who are experiencing clutter or hoarding conditions that threaten housing stability, health, and safety. Through this initiative, the Age Strong Commission seeks to strengthen community-based supports, enhance housing stability, and protect vulnerable older adults throughout Boston.
Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations that can provide or coordinate wraparound services. Funded clean-out services may be delivered directly or through subcontracted vendors.
Grant Priorities:
- Supporting programs that take a person-centered approach addressing both environmental hazards and the underlying factors contributing to hoarding. Funded services should aim to: prevent eviction and housing displacement, improve mental health and overall well-being, and support older adults in aging safely in place.
- Expanding the number of older adults in Boston receiving services for clutter or hoarding conditions.

Source of Funding: FY26 City Operating Budget
Total Amount Available for Grant Program: $220,000.00 (If additional funding becomes available, Age Strong may increase the total grant pool to expand the number or size of awards.)
Award Amount per Grant per Organization: Up to $75,000. Age Strong may award full funding, partial funding, or no funding.
Grant Eligibility
Grant applicants must:
- be a Boston-based nonprofit 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization
- Currently operate one or more of the following programs/services:
- Executive Office of Aging and Independence funded Home Care Services
- Behavioral Health Outreach Program for Aging Populations
- Adult Protective Services Program
- Title III Family Caregiver Support Program
- Heavy Chore
- provide or coordinate wraparound services, including case management, in-home supportive care, clean-out services, and, as needed, heavy chore support
- work with, or on behalf of older adults in Boston
- be in good financial standing
- be in good standing with current or previous Age Strong grant reporting requirements
Please note, for-profit organizations are not eligible for this grant opportunity.
Reporting Requirements:
All grant recipients will be required to submit a progress report to the Age Strong team after three months to capture reporting midway through the grant period. At the conclusion of the grant period, grantees will be required to submit an evaluation summary, demonstrating the impact of their program with the support of relevant data. Reports are expected to be submitted on time, or timely communication with the Age Strong team is expected if additional time is needed.

All applications and required documents are due by Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. EST (No extensions will be granted).
The Age Strong Commission will hold an information session for those interested in applying on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM EST.
