BCYF Clougherty Pool
BCYF Clougherty Pool will not open for the 2022 summer season.
BCYF will not open the BCYF Clougherty Pool for the summer 2022 season. The condition of the Clougherty Pool facility has raised serious safety concerns, and we are unwilling to jeopardize the safety of the pool's patrons and the staff. The nearby BCYF Charlestown Community Center pool is open. It will remain open over the summer, and a little over two miles away, we operate another outdoor pool, the BCYF Mirabella Pool on Commercial Street in the North End.
In addition, we will redeploy lifeguards throughout our network to open three other pools, expanding our aquatic outreach throughout the city. All aquatics programming is free, and more information can be found at boston.gov/BCYF-Aquatics.

Summer 2022 Pool Procedures and Info
There are several procedures in place to ensure the safety of pool visitors.
- Due to capacity limits to enhance visitor safety, visitors must register for a swim time slot through our our registration page. Walk-ins will not be allowed. Registration will go live 24 hours before the following day’s sessions and will remain open until all spots are taken or until the session is half over, whichever comes first.
- Sessions will be time limited and visitors are asked to register for and attend one session per day. If visitors register for more than one session per day, we reserve the right to cancel their registration if there is a waitlist of individuals looking to attend.
- Preference will be given to Boston residents.
- Three children under 12 are allowed per adult. Children under 8 need an adult in the water with them.
Rates and schedules
Pool opening is subject to weather. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult in the water with them at all times.
There is no fee to swim this summer.
