R.E.A.C.H 1000, a collaborative effort among the The Mayor’s Office of Black Male Advancement, the Boston Public Schools (BPS) Division of Student Support, and My Brother’s Keeper Boston to strengthen mentoring programs across BPS and support youth development
About R.E.A.C.H.
The goal of R.E.A.C.H. 1000 is to instill young people with skills that cultivate:
- confidence,
- access,
- opportunity
- interpersonal skills, and
- community competence to thrive.
The program helps Boston’s youth cultivate their “curiosity to creation” skills, design and achieve their goals, and master the practice of positively impacting the community.
As part of R.E.A.C.H. 1000, schools and mentees have access to the following programs:
- MBK Fellows Program,
- financial literacy; reading literacy,
- digital literacy; college and career pathways;
- Black studies through dual enrollment; Generational Talent Grant;
- and an Opportunity Lab.
Get Involved
Individuals can participate in mentoring in a number of ways:
- sign up to become mentors
- Companies can encourage employees to become mentors either on their own or as a group;
- Support mentoring programs through grants or sponsorships; or
- In-kind donations for mentors and mentees to enjoy a mentorship activity together
