The Gender Equity and Climate Roundtable is meant to encourage conversation around the connection between climate change and gender equity. Though climate change will affect all Bostonians, many Bostonians are more vulnerable to climate change. Climate change will have a greater negative effect on these groups. The Equity Dialogues focus on the most climate vulnerable populations to encourage greater dialogue on the importance of social equity in addressing climate change. This is with the goal of utilizing the conversations to foster greater social resilience among Boston communities.

These populations include:
  • older adults
  • youth
  • people of color
  • women
  • people with disabilities (mobility, cognitive, sensory), and
  • citizens experiencing homelessness.

The conversation will go over the impacts the City is expecting, connect how existing social structures disparately impact women, and how that will impact preparation against climate change. We will then end with a roundtable conversation having communal dialogue around the connection and what we can all do to address the disparities.

If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about the Equity Dialogues, please email David Corbie at David.Corbie@Boston.Gov.
