Evergreen Cemetery
Evergreen Cemetery became Brighton's primary burial space after the 1764 Old Burial Ground on Market Street ran out of available space. The Selectmen of Brighton purchased a portion of Aspinwall Woods, a beautiful wooded tract of slightly less than 14 acres on South Street in 1848 from the heirs of William Aspinwall.

Market Street Burying Ground
The Allston/Brighton area was first assigned to Watertown's (1630) and later, Cambridge's ownership (1634) to meet the colonists needs for grazing land. "Little Cambridge," as this area became known, was sparsely populated and the only church its residents could attend was located on the other side of the river in Cambridge. In 1744, a local meetinghouse was built near the present-day site of Market Street Burying Ground although it was only considered to be an extension of the First Parish Church in Cambridge.
Veronica B. Smith Senior Center
Renamed in 1985 the Veronica B. Smith Multi-Service Senior Center after its founder, the center officially became part of Age Strong in 2001.
