City Council supports 'Right to Recall' for Boston hotel workers

Recently, the Marriott Hotel in Copley Square permanently eliminated 231 employees, offering them little severance.

The Boston hospitality industry is the third largest industry in the City of Boston, employing tens of thousands of Boston residents. This week, the City Council adopted a resolution in support of Marriot Copley workers and support of a statewide "Right to Recall" for Boston Hotel Workers.

Recently, the Marriott Hotel in Copley Square permanently eliminated 231 employees, offering them little severance. A state law allowing cities and towns to adopt a "Right to Recall" ordinance would allow for workers to be recalled to their job within a two year period of being laid off.
