    Cyber Safety Materials

Have you gone through the Cyber Safety Campaign information the Boston Public Schools produced?  Make sure everyone in your household knows how to stay safe online, and how to report anyone who isn't being a good digital citizen.

    Don't be 'Flaming Fart Kid'

Have a conversation with your kids about what is acceptable for posting online and how their actions can have real world consequences — both for them and for others.

    Empower

    Stop Aggressive online behavior

Help kids to understand how to recognize cyberbullying and other inappropriate online actions, and how to respond safely. Here are some tips to do that

    Set Expectations

Discuss how to be mindful of actions online and to act in a way that promotes positive interactions. Teach kids that if you wouldn't say it in person, you shouldn't post it either.  Remind them that the behavior of celebrities online isn't necessarily the right model to follow!

    Engage

    Build Online Skills

There are many Computer Science Initiatives at Boston Public Schools, for every age student.  Encourage your students to take advantage of them.  And parents?  There are all sorts of ways for you to learn more.  The Boston Public Library has classes to help you become more engaged in the online world.

    Good Digital Citizens

Learn more about the acceptable use and other technology policies at your child's school. Engage with teachers, school administrators, and others to work together to foster good digital citizens skills in kids.
