How to prepay your 2018 third-quarter property taxes

We have information in the wake of the recent federal tax bill.

The City of Boston will accept prepayment of 2018 third-quarter property taxes as follows:

In-person at Boston City Hall:

1 City Hall Square
Window M-30
Boston, MA 02201-2004

  • The deadline to prepay in person is Friday, December 29, 2017.
By mail:

P.O. Box 9711
Boston, MA 02114-9711

  • Must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2017.
  • Checks MUST INCLUDE (Ward and Parcel Number and Property Address).
  • The canceled check will be your official receipt of payment.
Please note:

The amount of payment can be estimated by using the amount billed on the second quarter (November) invoice. This could result in a credit on your account which will then be applied to your fourth-quarter billing. If your payment is less than what you are billed on your actual invoice, you will be responsible to make the additional payment by the due date of February 1, 2018.

Online payment of third-quarter property taxes will not be available until invoices are issued in January 2018.
