Pics in the Parks: Challenge 5 - Background

Published by:

Parks and Recreation

Our weekly photography clinic, perfect for social distancing, has weekly challenges to help you hone and improve your photography skills.

Theme:

Background

Goals:

Pay attention to what is going on behind your subject. Make sure the subject of your photo has a background that enhances the subject and doesn’t distract the viewer.

TIPS:

What is going on behind your subject can distract the view or pull you out of the moment. A trash can behind a smiling portrait can really put a damper on the person you are taking a photo of. Send us a photo where this is done poorly to ensure you have an understanding.

Challenge:

Take a photograph of a subject and ensure the background enhances the photo of the subject (and does not distract from it).

Submit your photo to be included in our digital photo gallery by emailing Steve.Kruszkowski@Boston.Gov. Submissions may be used for future Boston Parks and Recreation Department marketing purposes.
