Second Annual Winter Warmer Held at Moakley Park

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department (BPRD) and Boston Harbor Now (BHN) held the second annual Winter Warmer community engagement event at the Moakley Park Fieldhouse in South Boston on February 12 in partnership with the Boston Family Engagement Network, Save the Harbor/Save the Bay, South Boston en Acción, the South Boston Neighborhood House, and Volo.

The free afternoon of seasonal fun celebrated how Moakley Park can remain active during the winter months and brought people of all ages together to continue to shape its future. With a variety of activities to suit a range of interests, each individual attendee was invited to “Make Moakley Yours” at the family-friendly outdoor event.

Visitors were encouraged to provide feedback on the park as it is today along with input on the Moakley Park Plan. Seating around barbeques encouraged visitors to share their Moakley Park stories and discuss what its future could be with each other and BPRD and BHN staff. The team also held in-depth discussions with visitors to understand their experiences and aspirations in more detail.
