As responsible persons working within the construction industry, we owe this to the citizens of Boston, those working in the trades and first responders to provide a safe work environment.  Please join the Mayor’s Office, the Boston Fire Department and Inspectional Services as they clearly communicate their heightened expectations of industry stakeholders.

 

TOPICS TO INCLUDE:

The Boston Fire Department’s expectations concerning:

  • Code compliance with NFPA 241 (Standard for Safeguarding, Alteration, and Demolition Operations).  Including its implementation and management throughout the construction process.
  • The Fire Prevention Program Manager and their important role in the construction process.
  • NFPA 51B (Standard for Fire Prevention During Welding, Cutting, and other Hot Work).

Additional Topics:

  • Performing renovations in an occupied building. This process is often referred to as “Phased Occupancy” and Life Safety Systems have to be maintained and operational.
  • Laboratory Space in new and existing buildings.
