KEY INITAITIVES

  • Strategic Deployment of Internet Services: The City will pursue competitive, low-cost internet services in Boston Housing Authority facilities and other affordable housing properties.
  • Securing Sustainable Funding: The City will explore alternative funding sources to enable Digital Equity Fund recipients and digital navigator programs to continue their work beyond 2026, seeing challenges to federal grants.
  • Expanding Public Resources: The City will expand Boston’s free Wi-Fi network (Wicked Free Wi-Fi) at community and transportation hubs and find ways to increase the inventory of the Boston Public Library’s short-term device lending programs.
  • Utilizing Community Facilities: The City will review and upgrade computer room facilities across City departments and build four new computer rooms in BHA developments.
