KEY INITAITIVES

- Strategic Deployment of Internet Services: The City will pursue competitive, low-cost internet services in Boston Housing Authority facilities and other affordable housing properties.
- Securing Sustainable Funding: The City will explore alternative funding sources to enable Digital Equity Fund recipients and digital navigator programs to continue their work beyond 2026, seeing challenges to federal grants.
- Expanding Public Resources: The City will expand Boston’s free Wi-Fi network (Wicked Free Wi-Fi) at community and transportation hubs and find ways to increase the inventory of the Boston Public Library’s short-term device lending programs.
- Utilizing Community Facilities: The City will review and upgrade computer room facilities across City departments and build four new computer rooms in BHA developments.
- Building Digital Skills: The City will continue free ‘digital skills training’ and ‘tech help drop-ins’ for residents, partnering with the Office of Returning Citizens and Boston Housing Authority.
