Tree Removal Hearing: South End

In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 87, the Boston Parks and Recreation Department will hold a virtual public hearing on a request to remove two (2) public shade trees at 695 Tremont Street, South End.

    The request is for the removal of two (2) public shade trees, located at 695 Tremont Street, South End, in order to accommodate the demolition and reconstruction of the existing South End branch of the Boston Public Library. The following trees are being requested for removal: One (1) Pear tree measuring 22 inches DBH (diameter at breast height) on the Rutland Sq side of this location and one (1) Swamp White Oak tree measuring 2 inches DBH on the W Newton St side of this location.

    The hearing will be held by the City of Boston’s Tree Warden (or designee) remotely on Thursday, October 2, at 10:00 a.m. via Zoom.

    Public comments, questions or objections to the removal of these trees must be submitted in writing prior to or during the hearing to the Tree Warden, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd floor, Roxbury, MA 02118 or by emailing trees@boston.gov with “Tremont Street Tree Hearing” in the subject line.
