Install Or Replace Pipes Or Plumbing Fixtures
If you’re replacing or installing plumbing pipes or fixtures you’ll need to hire a contractor who can apply for a Plumbing Permit and perform the work.

Who can install or replace?
Only a contractor with a valid, non-expired Massachusetts trade license may apply for a Plumbing Permit and perform any plumbing work related to installing or replacing plumbing pipes and fixtures.
What permits do I need?
Plumbing Permit
- If you are replacing or installing exposed pipes and plumbing fixtures, such as in a basement.
Short-Form Permit
- Only if you need to open up any non-structural walls while performing the work.
