If your home or building needs a gas line installed or replaced, you’ll need to hire a contractor who can apply for a Gas Permit and perform the work.
Who can install or replace gas lines?
Only a contractor with a valid, non-expired Massachusetts trade license may apply for a Gas Permit and perform any work related to installing or replacing gas lines or pipes.
What permits do I need?
Gas Permit
- For work that involves gas or the installation and replacement of gas lines, gas appliances, and gas heaters.
Short-Form Permit
- Only if you need to open up any non-structural walls while performing the work.
