Install Or Repair A Roof Deck
If you’re repairing or installing a roof deck, you’ll need either a Short-Form or a Long-Form permit depending on what type of work you’re doing.
Who can repair or install roof decks?
Homeowners and contractors can apply for the permit and install or repair a roof deck if the work is being done on a 1-2 unit owner-occupied home.
You must hire a contractor to apply for the permit and perform the work if it’s being done on a three-family or bigger dwelling, such as:
- an apartment building
- a multi-unit condo, or
- one floor of a triple-decker house.
What permits do I need?
Short-Form Permit
- If you are repairing an existing roof deck and making no structural changes, such as expanding its size. You’ll need to provide the permit and engineer-stamped plans from the original build.
OR
Long-Form Permit
- If you are installing a brand new roof deck, expanding the size of an existing one, or you cannot provide the original approved plans and permit.
