PEDESTRIAN SAFETY AND ACCESSIBILITY DESIGN SERVICES

The City of Boston’s Public Works Department (PWD) seeks design services from a qualified engineering firm or team of firms to substantially augment capacity to deliver pedestrian ramp and intersection engineering plans at various locations across the City. The target volume of individual ramps to be assessed, surveyed, and designed through this contract is a minimum of 1,000 ramps, annually, for each year of the contract term. This contract is procured under the provisions of the City Charter and is exempt from Chapter 30B § 1(b) (32A) of the Massachusetts General Laws.

PWD is investing significantly in the safety and accessibility of our pedestrian environment. In accordance with a legal mandate, a significant portion of the Streets Cabinet design and construction portfolio is focused on delivering a high-volume of reconstructed curb ramps that meet current federal, Massachusetts Architectural Board (MAAB), and City of Boston disability access standards.
