Camilo Esquivia-Zapata
Camilo Esquivia-Zapata brings extensive experience in equitable energy policy and environmental advocacy to the BERDO Review Board.
Currently a Bilingual Campaign Officer with the Climate & Energy program at the Union of Concerned Scientists, Camilo advocates for equitable, low-carbon energy policies across key states, including Massachusetts. Prior to his current role, he served as a fellow with the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning’s Community Innovators Lab (CoLab), where he co-designed and coordinated the Mel King Community Economic Democracy and Self-Determination Fellowship. His background also includes consulting in environmental health and safety, as well as grassroots work on climate adaptation, conservation, and human rights with community-based organizations in Colombia.
Camilo holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health Science from Benedict College and two Master’s degrees in Coexistence and Conflict, and Sustainable International Development from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.
