City Council's Committee on Public Safety and Criminal Justice Hearing (Campbell)

The committee will hold a hearing on the acceptance of several grants in regards to public safety matters on January 19 at 10 a.m.

    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend a grant of Two Million Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($2,250,000.00) from the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services to be administered by the Fire Department. The grant will fund the training needs of the Fire Department including Back to Basics, fitness, videos, EMT Training and Driver Training. 

  2. Docket # 0101

    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend a grant of Two Hundred Thirty-Seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($237,500.00) awarded by the Boston Fire Department. The grant will be used to fund the Boston’s Fire’s HazMat training needs for dangerous chemical and hazardous spills, terrorism alerts and attacks, urban search and rescue and tunnel and trench rescues.

  3. Docket # 0102

    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend a grant of Eighty-four Thousand Dollars ($84,000.00) for the 2017 Traffic Enforcement Program, awarded by the United States Department of Transportation passed through the MA Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to be administrated by the Police Department. The grant will fund high-visibility enforcement of motor vehicle laws, including but not limited to speeding and aggressive driving impaired driving and occupant protection


    These matters were sponsored by Mayor Walsh and referred to the committee on December 16, 2016.
