City Council meeting

The City Council is holding a meeting on September 21 at 12 p.m.

All City Council meetings are held at 12 p.m. (noon) in the Christopher A. Iannella Chamber on the fifth floor of Boston City Hall, unless otherwise noted. All meetings are open to the public and are also available on Xfinity Channel 8, RCN 82, Fios 964, and livestream via City Council TV.

  2. COMMUNICATIONS FROM HER HONOR, THE MAYOR:

    1134    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of One Million Nine Hundred Sixty Nine Thousand Sixty Six 

        Dollars ($1,969,066.00) in the form of a grant, for the Federal FY23 Title 

        III C Nutrition Services Program, awarded by the U.S. Department of 

        Health and Human Services, passed through the MA Executive Office of 

        Elder Affairs, to be administered by the Age Strong Commission. The grant 

        will fund nutrition services for older adults in the City of Boston. These 

        services are enhanced by Federal Nutrition Services Incentive Program and 

        the State Elder Lunch Program grants.

        1135    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of One Million Six Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy Five Dollars 

        ($1,006,875.00) in the form of a grant for the FY23 Title III B Supportive 

        Services, awarded by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 

        passed through the MA Executive Office of Elder Affairs, to be 

        administered by the Age Strong Commission. The grant will fund 

        home based support services for older adults in the City of Boston.

      

        1136    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Nine Hundred Eighty Seven Thousand Four Hundred Fifty Two 

        Dollars and Forty Four Cents ($987,452.44) in the form of a grant, from the 

        Federal FY22 Nutrition Services Incentive Program, awarded by the U. S. 

        Department of Health and Human Services, passed though the MA 

        Executive Office of Elder Affairs, to be administered by the Age Strong 

        Commission.

        1137    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Five Hundred Twenty Four Thousand Two Hundred Eighty 

        Seven Dollars ($524,287.00) in the form of a grant for the Federal FY23 

        Title III E Family Caregiver Support Program, awarded by the U.S. 

        Department of Health and Human Services, passed through the MA 

        Executive Office of Elder Affairs, to be administered by the Age Strong 

        Commission. The grant will fund Caregiver Services for older adults in the 

        City of Boston.

        1138    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Four Hundred Twenty Four Thousand Eight Hundred Twenty 

        One Dollars ($424,821.00) in the form of a grant for the Federal FY23 Title 

        III A, awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 

        passed through the MA Executive Office of Elder Affairs, to be 

        administered by the Age Strong Commission. The grant will fund cost for 

        administration of Title III programs.

        1139    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of One Hundred Seventy Seven Thousand Two Hundred Seventy 

        One Dollars ($177,271.00) in the form of a grant, for the Federal FY23 

        Title III Ombudsman Program, awarded by the U.S. Department of Health 

        and Human Services, passed through the MA Executive Office of Elder Affairs, to 

        be administered by the Age Strong Commission. The grant will fund 

        consumer protection programs to improve long term services for older 

        adults in the City of Boston.

        1140    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Seventy Eight Thousand Sixty Hundred Ninety Five Dollars 

        ($78,695.00) in the form of a grant, for the Federal FY23 Title III D 

        Disease Prevention & Health Promotion, awarded by the U.S. Department 

        of Health and Human Services, passed through the MA Executive Office of 

        Elder Affairs, to be administered by the Age Strong Commission. The grant 

        will fund services that assist older adults in Boston to prevent illness and 

        manage chronic conditions.

        1141    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Sixty Two Thousand Five Hundred Sixty Nine Dollars 

        ($62,569.00) in the form of a grant, for the Federal FY20 Byrne Justice 

        Assistance Grant Reallocation, awarded by the United States Department of 

        Justice, passed through the MA Executive Office of Public Safety & 

        Security, to be administered by the Police Department. The grant will fund 

        Annual Boston Address Verification procedures mandated by the 

        Massachusetts Sex Offender Registry Board.

        1142    Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the 

        amount of Forty Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy Five Dollars 

        ($40,875.00), in the form of a grant for the FY22 Port Security Grant 

        Program, awarded by the United States Department of Homeland Security 

        to be administered by the Police Department. The grant will fund 

        installation and re powering of three Boston Police Department Harbor 

        Patrol Unit vessels and new equipment for the Harbor Patrol Unit Dive 

        Team.

    1143    Notice was received from the Mayor of the appointment of Mariangely 

        Solis Cervera, as Affirmative Action Officer on the Residency Compliance 

        Commission for a term expiring December 1, 2025.

  4. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES:

    0934    The Committee on Environmental Justice, Resiliency and Parks, to which 

        was referred on August 10, 2022, Docket #0934, Message and order 

        authorizing an appropriation order in the amount of Six Hundred Eighty Six 

        Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars ($686,800.00) for the Cemetery Division 

        of the Parks and Recreation Department and the Trust Office of the 

        Treasury Department to be funded from the Cemetery Trust Fund 

        established under Chapter 13 of the Acts of 1961, submits a report 

        recommending that the docket ought to pass.
