All weekly City Council meetings are held at 12 p.m. (noon) in the Christopher A. Iannella Chamber on the fifth floor of Boston City Hall, unless otherwise noted.

All meetings are open to the public and are also available on Xfinity Channel 8, RCN 82, Fios 964, and livestream via City Council TV.

  2. COMMUNICATIONS FROM HER HONOR, THE MAYOR:

    0210 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to except and expend the
    amount of One Million Six Hundred Forty Two Thousand Seven Hundred
    Twenty Three Dollars and Ten Cents ($1,642,723.10) in the form of a grant,
    for the FY23 Senator Charles E. Shannon Jr. Community Safety Initiative,
    awarded by the MA Executive Office of Public Safety & Security to be
    administered by the Police Department. The grant will fund regional and
    multi-disciplinary approaches to combat gang violence through coordinated
    prevention and intervention, law enforcement, prosecution and reintegration
    program.
    0211 Message and order for your approval an order appropriating from the
    Edward Ingersoll Browne Fund the sum of One Million Four Hundred
    Seventy Five Thousand Dollars ($1,475,000.00) for projects described in
    the attached order. The Edward Ingersoll Browne Fund Commissioners met
    on December 7, 2022, and voted to approve these projects and to establish a
    dedicated repairs and restoration fund for the Browne Fund Projects.

    of a grant from the Friends of Crite Park. The Friends of Crite Park have
    offered to provide One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00), to
    the Public Works Department, for some of the expenses related to the Crite
    Park Project.

  4. MATTERS RECENTLY HEARD-FOR POSSIBLE ACTION:

    0108 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
    amount of Thirteen Million Five Hundred Twenty Thousand Dollars
    ($13,520,000.00) in the form of a grant for continued support of planning,
    exercises, trainings and operational needs that will assist in building
    enhanced and sustainable security capacities to help prevent, respond to and
    recover from threats to acts of terrorism, including Chemical, Biological,
    Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive incidents, awarded by the United
    States Department of Homeland Security, passed though the MA Executive
    Office of Public Safety & Security, to be administered by the Department of
    Emergency Management. The grant will fund the Federal FY2022 Urban
    Areas Security Initiative.
    0109 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
    amount of One Million One Hundred Sixty Nine Thousand Six Hundred
    Twenty Three Dollars ($1,169,623.00) in the form of a grant for the
    Boston-Providence Regional Catastrophic Preparedness project, through
    which we work to close known capability gaps, encourage innovative
    regional solutions to issues related to catastrophic incidents and build in
    existing regional preparedness efforts, awarded by the United States
    Department of Homeland Security, passed through the Federal Emergency
    Management Agency, to be administered by the Department of Emergency
    Management. The grant will fund the Federal FY22 Regional Catastrophic
    Preparedness.
    0110 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the
    amount of Five Hundred Sixty Seven Thousand Dollars ($567,000.00) in
    the form of a grant for the FY23 State Information System Improvements,
    awarded by the United States Department of Transportation, passed through
    the MA Executive Office of Public Safety & Security, to be administered by
    the Police Department. The grant will fund specialized equipment for 564
    marked and unmarked cruisers to implement the Motor Vehicle Automated
    Citation and Crash System in Boston. The eCitation technology issues
    electronic traffic citations which can be printed out in the police cruisers.
