Tree Removal Hearing - Roxbury

The hearing will be held by the City of Boston’s Tree Warden (or designee) in the 3rd floor Conference Room of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, Roxbury.

  1. Request to remove 25 public shade trees due to construction of the Madison Melnea Cass Apartments Project along Melnea Cass Boulevard in the vicinity of Sojourner Truth Place and Brook Marshall Road in Roxbury.

    The request is for the removal of ten hop-hornbeam trees measuring 15” dbh (diameter at breast height);  four silver linden trees measuring 25”, 22”, and 20” dbh; two Norway maple trees measuring 17” and 18” dbh; two oak trees measuring 9” and 10” dbh; three poplar trees measuring 19”, 11” and 8” dbh; one pear tree measuring 10” dbh; one apple tree measuring 5” dbh; and two elm trees measuring18” and 9” dbh.  ​

    Public testimony will be taken at the hearing, or may be provided prior to the hearing in writing to the Tree Warden, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd floor, Boston, MA 02118 or by emailing parks@boston.gov with “Roxbury Tree Hearing” in the subject line.
