Tree Removal Hearing - Roxbury

The Boston Parks and Recreation Department will hold a public hearing on Thursday, October 5, at 11 a.m.

  1. Request to remove six public shade trees as part of the creation of a new public way and other street improvements at the Whittier Street BHA property in Roxbury.

    The hearing will be held by the City of Boston’s Tree Warden (or designee) in the 3rd floor Conference Room of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, Roxbury. 

    The request is for the removal of two London planetrees measuring 4 inches dbh (diameter at breast height) on Whittier Street; one red oak measuring 4 inches dbh, one red maple measuring 3 inches dbh, and one red maple measuring 4 inches dbh on Cabot Street; and one London planetree measuring 15 inches dbh on a new public way as yet to be named.  The request is due to the construction of the new street, sidewalks, and landscaping as part of the redevelopment of the Whittier Street BHA property at 1158 Tremont Street in Roxbury.

    Public testimony will be taken at the hearing, or may be provided prior to the hearing in writing to the Tree Warden, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd floor, Boston, MA 02118 or by emailing parks@boston.gov with “Roxbury Tree Hearing” in the subject line.
