City Council meeting

The City Council is holding a meeting on February 14 at 12 p.m.

  2. COMMUNICATIONS FROM HIS HONOR, THE MAYOR:

    0284 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of One Million Seventy-Five Thousand Nine Hundred Fifteen Dollars and Forty-One Cents ($1,075,915.41) in the form of a grant for the Charles R. Shannon,  Jr. Community Safety Initiative, awarded by the MA Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to be administered by the Police Department. The grant will fund regional and multi-disciplinary approaches to combat gang violence through coordinated prevention and intervention, law enforcement, prosecution, and reintegration type programs.

    0285 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($250,000.00) in the form of a grant for the Immigrant Advancement Initiative, awarded by a Donor Group to be administered by the Office of Immigrant Advancement. The grant will fund programs, initiatives, events and small grants that enable immigrants to play an active role in the economic, civic, social and cultural life of the City of Boston.

    0286 Message and order to declare surplus these City-Owned, formerly Boston Planning and Development Agency owned, parcels of vacant land and transfer to the care, custody, management and control of said property to the Public Facilities Department. The parcels are located at: Candor Street in East Boston District (Ward 01 Parcel 033640000), Candor Street in East Boston District (Ward 01 Parcel 03365000) and Candor Street in East Boston (Ward 01 Parcel 03366000).

    0288 Communication was received from Lawrence S. DiCara, Chairman of the Audit Committee, updating the City Council of their meetings held with independent auditors KPMG LLP for the year ending December 31, 2017.

    0289 Notice was received from the Mayor of his absence from the City from 6:00 P.M. on Friday, February 9, 2018 until 12:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 11, 2018.

  4. MATTERS RECENTLY HEARD-FOR POSSIBLE ACTION:

    0137 Message and order authorizing the City of Boston to accept and expend a grant in the amount of Four Hundred Thousand Dollars ($400,000.00) from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, the division of Conservation Services Parkland Acquisitions and Renovations for Communities (PARC) Program grant. The Parks and Recreation Department will administer the funds to be used to provide Capital Improvements to Noyes Playground located in the East Boston neighborhood.

    0129 Message and order for your approval an Ordinance Allowing Short-Term Residential Rentals in the City of Boston. This ordinance provides a process through which certain dwelling units may be registered with the City for use as short-term rental units.
