Tree removal hearing - Mattapan

The Parks and Recreation Department will hold a public hearing on Thursday, March 1, at 10 a.m.

  1. Request to remove six public shade trees opposite 200 American Legion Highway in Mattapan

    The hearing will be held by the City of Boston’s Tree Warden (or designee) in the 3rd floor Conference Room of the Boston Parks and Recreation Department at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, Roxbury. 

    The request is for the removal of three red oak trees measuring 7 to 8 inches dbh (diameter at breast height) and three white oaks measuring 5 to 7 inches dbh due to construction of a new charter school at 200 American Legion Highway. The trees are located in the median island between Kingbird Road/Canterbury Street to the southwest and Austin Street to the northeast.

    Public testimony will be taken at the hearing, or may be provided prior to the hearing in writing to the Tree Warden, Boston Parks and Recreation Department, 1010 Massachusetts Avenue, 3rd floor, Roxbury, MA 02118, or by emailing parks@boston.gov with “Mattapan Tree Hearing” in the subject line.
