Project Goals

These parcels are in the process of being developed under the City of Boston’s Neighborhood Homes Initiative. Through this initiative, the Mayor's Office of Housing (MOH) formerly the Department of Neighborhood Development (DND) sells city-owned properties to private buyers to encourage development in the City. One of the goals of MOH’s land disposition is to reduce the amount of unused, neglected property existing in the City, placing it back on the tax rolls and adding to the inventory of mixed-income housing. MOH’s land disposition process helps alleviate the housing crisis by enabling MOH to offer buildable lots to home builders/developers to encourage the construction of housing in Boston’s neighborhoods for a range of affordability levels. These parcels were offered through a request for proposal issued on 3/09/2020 and due back on 5/22/2020. The preferred developer, Norfolk Design & Construction LLC, was presented to the community for approval at a community meeting held on July,30th 2020. Norfolk Design & Construction LLC then received the tentative designation for the development of the parcels. Construction is expected to begin in the Spring of 2022.
